THE COMPANY SAVE

We weren't planning on writing a Flavor Log today. We were preparing the variety pack for with the season winners of the Throwback Collection and we reviewed the Season 1 leaderboard again.

The top four flavors earned permanent spots. Oatmeal Cookie finished first with a 9.0, followed by Candied Pecan at 8.7. Sunday Pancakes and Grandma's Candy tied at 8.3.

And then there was Monkey Bread at 8.2. It was one tenth of a point from making the permanent lineup but sadly, didn't make it and that should be the end of the story.

Except....Monkey Bread had overwhelmingly good customer feedback and strong sales throughout the season. People bought it. Sometimes more than once. It was one of those flavors that kept telling us something through the numbers, even if the final rating didn't quite put it in the top four.

So we made a decision. Monkey Bread gets the first ever Company Save.

The idea behind the Company Save is pretty simple. The leaderboard decides which flavors earn a permanent place, but we realized that there needed to be room for a flavor that narrowly misses the cut but clearly deserves to stick around.

It won't happen every season. Most of the time, the leaderboard will be the leaderboard as planned. But sometimes a flavor is too good to let go.

Monkey Bread was 0.1 away. We're keeping it.
